Tomasz Tomka
Tomasz Tomka was thirteenth century Bishop of Płock, Poland.〔(Diocese of Płock ) at GCatholic .com.〕 He was Bishop from 1271 till 1294.〔T. He may have been of Prussian decent,〔M. Maciejowski, Political Orientations of the Bishops of Gniezno metropolis: 1283-1320, Kraków 2007, page 41〕 although medieval Chronicler, Jan Długosz claims Polish origines.〔Ioannis Dlugossii Vitae episcoporum Plocensium abbreviatae cum continuatione Laurentii de Wszerecz. Cited in Kętrzyński, Monumenta Poloniae Historica, Kraków, 1893, page 606.〕 He had at least a school level education, and may have obtained a university degree,〔M. Maciejowski, Political Orientations of the Bishops of Gniezno metropolis: 1283-1320, Kraków 2007 pages 61-62〕〔Codex diplomaticus Poloniae. Translated L. Rzyszewski, A. He was Chancellor for Siemowit I of Masovia from before 21 April 1256〔Codex diplomaticus Poloniae. trans L. Rzyszewski, A. Muczkowski, Warszawa 1847, page 45.〕 and in a document dated 19 November 1257 was Canon to Andrzej Ciołka the Bishop of Płock.〔Urkundenbuch des Bisthums Culm, T. 1, Das Bisthum Culm unter dem deutschen Orden 1243–1466, wyd. C.P. Woelky, Danzig 1885, page52.〕 and was made bishop himself in 1271.
In 1282 he visited Pomerania, and he lived until sometime after 6 May 1294.
